Quit all Chrome OS applications that may be accessing the Smart Card reader and try again. Some application on the Chrome OS side, such as 'Smart Card Connector', is connected to the device, preventing Parallels Desktop from accessing it. For your convenience, CACs can be brought in for renewal up to 90 days in advance of the expiration date. A Smart Card reader connected to the virtual machine is not being detected in Windows. If your CAC expires and you are eligible for a new CAC, you should go to the nearest RAPIDS site and obtain your new CAC. Currently, there is no capability to reset your PIN remotely. If your fingerprint matches successfully, you can select a new PIN.
If you forget your PIN, go to the nearest issuance site, where you will be given the opportunity to prove that you are the owner of the CAC by matching your fingerprint against the fingerprint that was stored in DEERS when you were issued the card. This documentation must be scanned and stored in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
If you lose your card, you shall be required to present documentation from the local security office or CAC sponsor confirming that the CAC has been reported lost or stolen. You can also photocopy a CAC without damaging it, but any person willfully altering, damaging, lending, counterfeiting, or using these cards in any unauthorized manner is subject to fine or imprisonment or both.

No stickers or other adhesive materials are to be placed on either side of an ID card as well. Smart cards and smart card readers generally work fine in Mac OS when used with a web browser, but they can be a bit challenging to use to digitally sign a document, such as a PDF. Thank you for any assistance you can provide! If I were not unemployed at the moment, I would consider buying a very small PC for just Army stuff, but right now, the money just isn't there.You will need a personal identification number (PIN) to access information stored on a CAC. One class that I can actually get to has a pop-up (that is allowed) that just doesn't go anywhere. Oh, I had mentioned that the reader does still work on my iPad and iPhone, but unfortunately, neither of those is powerful enough to reach some sites it seems. I also cannot digitally sign anything because the computer and CAC reader simply will not play nicely together and read the card. I cannot access many sites and some classes. I have way too much military work to accomplish for my CAC reader not to work. Yes, I have tried everything recommended at Militar圜AC.com several times, and I have also reached out to the manufacturer for help, which they cannot provide.
The computer knows the reader is there, but it refuses to read the certificates. It does still work for those 2, but ever since the Catalina update, it will not read my CAC.

Has anyone figured out how to make this work yet? I've used my Mac with a Thursby CAC reader for years with no issues the same reader also works on my iPad and iPhone.
